Go back to product info

Tools

  • Drill with mixing spindle attachment
  • gloves
  • notched comb
  • adhesive tape

Preparation and substrate check

First, an inspection of the substrate is required:

  • Check the primed substrate for defects. In case the primer coat has sunk into the substrate, a second primer coat must be applied.
  • The surface must always be free of dust and moisture and smooth. If necessary, lightly sand and vacuum the floor. If EP-Rapid Primer is used beforehand, a vacuum cleaner will suffice.
  • If blisters have formed in primer coat, remove and fill them with MS Polymer-based sealant.
  • Place profiles before applying EP-Rapid Scratchcoat. Use these profiles to avoid overflowing of EP-Rapid Scratchcoat.
  • Provide expansion joints in advance along the sides (1-3 cm) where the scrape coat can run in. Expansion joints in the substrate must be followed.
  • Always use masking tape before applying EP-Rapid Scratchcoat. Remove the tape immediately after application.
Do the same with walls and windows.

Conditions during placement

Floor temperature
Measuring Floor temperature
  • The recommended floor and ambient temperatures: 15°C – 25°C
    • Ideal installation temperature: 18°C – 22°C.
  • Find the coldest point on the floor. Then measure the dew point.
    • The floor temperature should be >3°C above the dew point.
  • Use a moisture meter to measure the % floor moisture.
    • The substrate must have ≤ 5% moisture.
  • The ideal humidity level is 40% to 60%.

Processing

Mixing A/B.C Components
Mixing A/B.C Components
  • Dispense the A/B/C components EP-Rapid Scratchcoat, which can be processed within 10 minutes.
  • Mix up the A component before weighing.
  • Weigh the B component according to the mixing ratio
  • Mix B component with the A component (1 minute) in the can.
  • Pour the A/B mixture into a mixing bucket and then add the correct ratio C component while stirring.
  • Mix (2 min.) until you achieve a homogeneous result and all the lumps are gone.
  • Then pour the mixture out on the floor as quickly as possible in several small puddles or in a long straight line.
  • Spread the mixture with a toothed comb in a thickness of 1 to 1.5 mm.

Points of attention

  • Make sure all cracks and openings are sealed to prevent pests from entering the scraper.
  • Avoid unevenness by using wet to wet technique. Connection should be done after 15 minutes at the latest.
  • Put the excess of prepared scrape outside immediately after use. Temperatures rise in the pot and there is smoke.
  • Always use masking tape. Remove it immediately after applying EP-Rapid Scratchcoat.

Cleaning

Clean used tools with Cleaner EP or acetone. Cured product residues must be removed mechanically.
