Tools

  • Drill with mixing spindle attachment
  • gloves
  • notched comb
  • adhesive tape

Preparation and substrate check

Before EP-Rapid Scratchcoat is applied, an inspection of the substrate is required:

  • The substrate must be primed and without defects. In case the primer coat has sunk into the substrate, a second primer coat must be applied.
  • The surface must always be free of dust and moisture and nothing should stick up from the floor. If necessary, lightly sand and vacuum the floor. If EP-Rapid Primer is used beforehand, a vacuum cleaner will suffice.
  • If blisters have formed in primer coat, remove and fill them with MS Polymer-based sealant.
  • Use a moisture meter to measure the moisture percentage of the floor. The moisture content in the substrate should be ≤ 5% moisture.
  • Before EP-Rapid Scratchcoat can be applied, it is necessary to place profiles or provide cuts.
Use these profiles to avoid run-off of EP-Rapid Scratchcoat.
Expansion joints in the substrate must also be followed.
  • Grind drains in advance along the sides (1-3 cm) so that the scrape coat can run in here.
Always tape them off before applying EP-Rapid Scratchcoat and remove the tape immediately after application.
Do the same with walls and windows.

Conditions during placement

  • Recommended floor and ambient temperatures are between 15°C and 25°C, with an ideal installation temperature of 18°C to 22°C.
  • Measure the temperature of the floor, finding the coldest point.
Then measure the dew point at this point.
The floor temperature should be at least 3°C above the dew point.
  • The ideal humidity level is 40% to 60%.

The floor and ambient temperature should be >15°C, when EP-Rapid Scratchcoat is applied, to avoid adhesion problems with the next coat.

Processing

  • Dispense the A/B/C components EP-Rapid Scratchcoat, which can be processed within a time period of 10 minutes.
  • Mix up the A component before weighing.
  • Weigh the B component according to the mixing ratio
  • Pour the B component with the A component and mix in the can for 1 minute.
  • Pour the mixture into a mixing bucket and then add the C component while stirring in the correct ratio.
  • Mix for 2 minutes until you achieve a homogeneous result and all the lumps are gone.
  • Then pour the mixture out on the floor as quickly as possible in several small puddles or in a long straight line.
  • Spread the mixture with a toothed comb in a thickness of 1 to 1.5 mm.

Points of attention

  • Make sure all cracks and openings are sealed to prevent pests from entering the scraper.
Use insect repellent beforehand, if necessary.
  • Be sure to always work wet against wet to avoid unevenness.
Connection should be done after 15 minutes at the latest.
Keep this in mind when finishing different areas.
  • Put the excess of prepared scrape outside immediately after use.
Temperatures rise in the pot and there is smoke.
  • Always use masking tape where necessary.
Remove it immediately after applying EP-Rapid Scratchcoat.
