EP-Rapid Plinth / Repair Gel

Needs

Preparation and substrate check

• The substrate must always be free of moisture and grease. (≤ 5% moisture)
  • If moisture exceeds 5% to a maximum of 10%, you may choose to make the floor as dry as possible with a burner.
  • If the moisture percentage has not decreased, there may be an underlying moisture problem.
• Clean the floor with a degreaser and then with clean water before blasting or sanding.

Points of interest by substrate

• Tiles: joints should be free of dirt, grease, other chemicals. Loose or concave tiles should be removed.
• Chape: new chape must first cure for at least 28 days.
• Concrete: new concrete must cure for at least 28 days.
  Any protective top coat, cement layer , impregnating agent or paint layer present on an existing concrete must first be sanded away.
• For polished concrete, it is very important to sand away the curing compounds on the surface.
• Anhydrite: degrease, then sand and dust.

Unevenness in substrate

• All surfaces must first be made grease and dust-free from all substances that could prevent adhesion.
• In case unevenness of more than 5 mm are present in the substrate, smooth these out using a mixture of EP-Rapid Primer (15-20%) and gravel 0.4/0.8 (85-80%).
• In case of cracks wider than 1 mm, these should first be ground in further and then filled with EP-Rapid Plinth / Repair gel.
• Expansion joints in the substrate should also be followed when applying EP-Rapid Plinth / Repair Gel.

Conditions during placement

• Recommended floor and ambient temperatures are between 10°C and 25°C with an ideal installation temperature of 18-22°C.
• To shorten the drying time of baseboards in a yard with low floor temperature (<15°C), the room can be heated to 20-22°C the day before.
• The maximum air humidity is 80% RH. The temperature of the substrate and uncured products must be 3°C above the dew point.

Application as skirting paste

Processing

• Dispense an amount of EP-Rapid Plinth / Repair Gel that can be processed within 15 minutes.
• Mix up one set of EP-Rapid Plinth / Repair Gel and apply it where the skirting will be.
• Mix up and add a 2nd set of EP-Rapid Plinth / Repair Gel. Next, add a total of 9 kg of colored gravel 0.4/0.8. Also apply primer at a distance of 5 cm on the floor in front of the skirting board.
• Apply the compact mortar to the wall with a trowel/plaster knife and then finish with a hollow or straight angle trowel working wet-in-wet (0-30 min after placing the primer coat).

Points of attention

• If EP-Rapid Plinth / Repair Gel is spilled on a plinth profile, remove it immediately.
  • Clean the profile with a cloth soaked in Isopropanol.
  • The joint between the skirting board profile and the wall must be sealed liquid-tight with sanitary sealant.
• Both the trowel and the baseboard can be misted with water. This will make processing even smoother and give you a tighter and better compacted skirting.

Implementation of repairs

Smoothing out pits and unevennesses

• Prepare the Rapid Plinth gravel mixture by adding colored gravel 0.4/0.8 and mixing into a compact mortar.
• Apply the Rapid Plinth gravel mixture into the surface to be flattened. Use a trowel and press down firmly.
• Before priming the floor, first saturate the repair with primer.
• After the required drying time, sand the surface with a double-ring diamond wheel.
• Then the floor and the repaired surface can be primed.

Filling of cracks

• Cracks wider than 1 mm should be ground in further first.
• Then mix up the A and B components.
• Apply the mixture into the crack with a trowel or putty knife, making sure the crack is completely filled.
• After the required drying time, sand the surface with a double-ring diamond wheel.
• Then the floor and the repaired surface can be primed.

Cleaning

Clean the used tools with Cleaner EP, isopropanol or acetone. Cured product residues must be removed mechanically.

Storage and preservation

Shelf life: 12 months in a closed and original container when stored in a dry and cool place (10-25°C)
