Depending on the application and the builder's wishes, different finishes are possible with a stone carpet. Below you will find a description of one of the possible finishes with the corresponding properties. Stonedec Garage
The basis of this closed structure decorative gravel floor is coloured quartz stones, a high-quality PU binder, a polyaspartic pore filler and a top coat. The 1-2 mm gravel grains have a UV-resistant PU colour coating. The coating process takes place at a high temperature for optimum wear resistance of the coloured gravel grains.
This floor consists of 4 layers : primer – stone carpet – waterproof pore filler (2x) – non-slip top coat. The minimum floor construction depth of this system is 6 mm. The choice of primer depends on the type of substrate. To make it easy for you, we have added a document in Downloads below so you can easily see for yourself which primer is the most suitable for you.
The PU binder used for this system is 100% UV resistant, which prevents discolouration and reserves the original colour at all times (this is especially important with large windows, or light colours). Not all pigments are UV stable; therefore, a list of colours that have been tested for UV resistance can be found under the downloads section.
Stonedec Garage makes use of the highest quality pore filler currently available in the market: UV resistant (so no discolouration), very wear-resistant and gives better protection against prolonged water exposure (with a standard pore filler, white spots can appear due to long-term water exposure). The polyaspartic screed can be applied very easily and ensures 99% of the openings between the stones are closed. This makes the floor easy to keep clean with a vacuum cleaner or by scrubbing with water and soap-free soap, in other words ideal for floors that are lived on daily.
On top of the best pore filler available, the Stonedec Garage gets an extra epoxy top coat Unlike most polyurethane top coats, this transparent matte varnish layer is also resistant to the plasticisers found in car tyres (rubber), which prevents yellow, brown or black stains that cannot be cleaned.
