Depending on the application and the builder's wishes, there are different finishes possible with a mortar floor. Below you will find a description of one of the possible finishes with the corresponding properties. Powerdec Retail
The basis of this mortar floor is coloured quartz stones, a high quality epoxy binder , an epoxy pore filler and a top coat. To optimize the wear resistance of the colored gravel grains (0.7-2.0mm), the coating process is done at high temperature. The specific composition of the granules creates a hard, indestructible floor with a modern, industrial look. A mortar/trowel floor looks like a concrete floor, but is stronger, dust-free and aesthetically more beautiful.
The floor consists of 4 layers: primer – mortar – epoxy pore filler(2x) – very scratch resistant top coat The minimum floor construction depth of this system is 6 mm. The choice of primer depends on the type of substrate. The epoxy binder used in this system was developed specially for aesthetic applications to keep discolouration to a minimum. In this respect, it is one of the best in the market.
Powerdec Retail features a robust epoxy pore-filler. This filler has increased UV resistance compared to standard epoxy gel and has high mechanical and chemical resistance. This pore filler ensures the floor is easy to keep clean using a vacuum cleaner or water cleaner, or by scrubbing with water and soap-free soap. Ideal for floors that are used on a daily basis.
On top of the best available pore-filler, Powerdec Retail receives an additional topcoat: This transparent silk-gloss varnish layer gives the whole a very scratch-resistant surface.
